All Nia classes will incorporate the 7 cycles set out by Debbie and Carlos Rosas.
1 FOCUS & INTENT
Is where we set the focus and intent of the practice. Example: “Today’s class will focus on the feet in order to enhance the sensation of stability in the body.” The students are encouraged to personalize it to fit their specific needs.
2 STEPPING IN
Step Into the Nia circle – “Create the Space to Workout” Students are encouraged to leave behind all distractions, prepare physically, mentally, emotionally by stepping into the circle and getting ready to work out.
3 WARM UP
Warm up movements4 GET MOVING
Cardiovascular section; to energize, stimulate the heart & lungs and condition the body.
5 COOL DOWN
Slow down to re-center, balance, and harmonize the body, mind, emotions, and prepare to move on the floor.
6 FLOOR PLAY
Stretching & strengthening movements (usually yoga moves), take advantage of the heat and pliability generated from the previous movements.
7 STEPPING OUT
Step out of the Nia practice and into the day. Consciously recognizing through body sensation the self-healing and fitness benefits received.
