Well, it has been a crazy 10 days at the hospital, but we have finally made it home. With a chilly welcoming snow storm to boot. I think the angles above knew that the kids wanted some time with their good old Dad and had all the schools closed in the area.
Unfortunately, Phil and I just slept most of the day. Boy was my bed extra comfy after sleeping on the hospital floor. Sarah and Holly cuddled in with us for the night. Thank goodness we have a Kingsize bed.
Phil is progressing in leaps and bounds. Not quite ready for tonights music lessons (which is our one hour weekly date at the Barber Towne Pub). Hopefully, he will be up and about within a few more weeks. He still can’t use his right leg for another couple of months. He has lost substantial muscle mass in his entire body. I guess he is building his uppr body strength much more quickly. His right leg is so swollen so his left leg looks absolutely hilarious beside it. I’m sure in time he’ll build it up again. For now I just chuckle under my breath. I can’t believe it is able to hold him up all by itself.
We are amazed at how much can happen in our absence. We’ve only had two storms since the accident. So our roof didn’t get shovelled off. Boy that’s causing such problems. If you know of ANYONE crazy enough to do the job that Phil usually does, have them call me. I usually go out with the kids, but I’m just a bit too shook up right now and I don’t want the kids up on the roof.
The guy in the SUV is still evading the OPP and State Farm Insurance Claims. I hope he realizes that things will only get worse if he doesn’t co-operate. Regardless, Phil is on the mend. We had a great evening watching the kids play one of their “rock, paper, scissors” games (Modified to Giants, Wizards and Elves) I’m glad my bladder was empty as I’m sure I would have sprung a leak watching them otherwise.
Keep in touch… home number (905) 702-1297 Phil is here 24/7 for the next while. He’s not always awake or able to reach the phone, so leave a message.
Visitors are more than welcome too. Not too late in the evening as he can barely handle a trip to the toilet and back into bed without passing out exhausted.
Once again many thanks to all that have helped out since the accident. We will make it through, but is is wonderful to have help. :o) D E N I S
