Nicholas may only be five years old, but you could say he’s already in training to become a future team leader for Habitat for Humanity. Together with his father Chris, he participates in the Kids Workshop at the Home Depot building prefabricated projects. Nicholas wants to feel he is part of the large group of family supporters who are helping to build their new Habitat home.
Chris works full time at the local warehouse and his wife Bonita is a dedicated stay-at-home mom to Nicholas, three old Alexander and Brianna who is one and a half years old.
Being a single income family of five, they also spend a high percentage of their income on rent which means there is not always a lot left over for new clothes, healthy, nutritious foods or pay unexpected bills.
The family has a lot of friends and family who are ready and willing to help build their home. Their new Habitat home will be built across the street from Chris’ father’s home.
Everyone is looking forward to their new home, particularly since Nicholas and Alexander are in need of a safe open space to run around and play. With the skills Nicholas has learned at the Home Depot Kids’ Workshops, he’ll be able to build his sister her won play-house in the backyard!
