I first started my journey in healing with Nia. I was introduced to Nia when I saw a demonstration at the Whole Foods Expo in Toronto in 2002. About a year later I took some classes at a local community centre. Needless to say, I was instantly hooked! I ordered a tape from Nia headquarters to continue my workouts at home.
In December 2005 I moved back to my home town of Georgetown, and in October 2006 took the 7 day intensive training to become a Nia Instructor. When I first decided to take the training I wasn’t thinking of teaching, I was more interested in personal growth. As the week progressed I grew more confident and thought I would give teaching a try. I started teaching in April 2007 and have been loving every minute of it!
After teaching Nia for awhile I become more interested in energy and self healing. This interest brought me to Qi Gong, which is an ancient self healing art in balancing and strengthening one’s life force or “qi.” In March of 2009 I became a certified Qi Gong Instructor teaching Health & Fitness Qi Gong to all ages and fitness levels.
In addition to being a Nia Instructor (White Belt) and Qi Gong Instructor (Level I), I have also trained in various other healing modalities. I am also a Thai Yoga Massage Practitioner (Level III), Reiki Practitioner (Level III), and have been certified to lead and instruct individuals in the Nia 5 Stages.
